The Latrobe City Bocce Classic was another big win for the Latrobe Valley region.  Twenty teams from around Victoria and the Latrobe Valley contested this three day Bocce Open, over Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July, at the Italian Australian Club in Morwell. The major sponsor, the Latrobe City presented the prize money’s to the first to fourth place getters at the finale luncheon.

The Championship was traditionally opened on the Friday evening by the Mayor of the Latrobe City Cr. Sandy Kam, in front of the official guests, Councillor Darrell White, Councillor Christine Sindt, State MP for the region Russell Northe, together with Club President Tony D’Urbano and Bocce Club President Tony Paolini.  Competition play continued through Saturday and Sunday with the final at Sunday noon. The final was a contest between last year’s winners, the Freccia Azzurra Club and the Calabria Club, who had not lost a match up to this stage. The Calabria Club team then went on to win handsomely.

Raymond Cher, President of the Bocce Federation congratulated all the participants and particularly the winning team of father and son, Michael Pascuzzi and Santo Pascuzzi and Diane Radojkovic. The major sponsors, Latrobe City should be commended on their continual support of this Latrobe City Bocce Classic. Congratulations to the organizers Sally Fava and her team with Bocce President Tony Paolini for organising another successful Latrobe City Open.

This is the 12th edition of this Championship, which has revealed in the past, champions who have gone on to national and international participation.
