Australia at the Denis Ravera Bocce Challenge, Monaco

The Australian Under 18 Doubles team of Tristian Giacometti, Daniel Samsa and Daniel Pevere, beat off Argentina, Serbia and Bulgaria to claim 3rd place in the Junior Doubles Bocce Challenge. Seventeen countries competed in this two day event (20, 21 September) encompassing Junior Under 14, Under 18 and Under 23 teams. Tristan Giacometti won silver last year in the Precision Throw event.

Australia’s Under 14 Doubles team of the first timers, Felix Janosa and Max Tricarico initially led against the Italians, but the Italians precision throwing eventually gave them a 13 to 9 points win. Playing again against the Italians in the Barrage round saw a 13 to 4 points win, again to the Italians. The boys are very competitive and showed good tenacity and have made Australia proud.

Tristian Giacometti and Daniel Samsa are from Sydney. Daniel Pavere is from Cooma and Felix Janosa and Max Tricarico are from Melbourne.

The Denis Ravera Challenge is traditionally the warm up event, leading on to the World Junior Bocce Championship, this year in Chieri Italy, (23-27 September). Twenty six countries, with competitors in two age groups, Under 18 and Under 23, will be competing for six titles. The Australian Under 18’s team will compete in the traditional Singles, Doubles and Bowl Throw Championships.
