After Schools Bocce program being developed

Bocce provides great opportunities for children to get active, improve their motor skills and have fun learning the basics of bocce. The BFA, has for some time endeavoured to introduce bocce into the school setting in a formal way. Earlier this year, in collaboration with Park Orchards Primary School in Melbourne, we implemented the first formal Bocce After-Schools Program as promoted through the Australian Government Active After-Schools Activities department. The course structure was developed by Lina Cher, using approved methods and implemented by Vanessa Allegretto, a teacher at the school. Week by week the course content was monitored and assessed to meet the developmental needs of the children and to ensure the integrity of the course. Feedback from the participating students has been extremely positive. Provided that funding from the Federal Government continues, we hope to roll out this program across Australia.
